Italy Begins Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign
BARI, ITALY - DECEMBER 31: Vaccine administration on December 31, 2020 in Bari, Italy. Puglia has anticipated the times by kicking off Phase 1 today. 26 vaccination points activated throughout the region, 1558 doses administered on this first day. The vaccines, arrived in Puglia yesterday, distributed in the 11 regional hubs and taken over and stored, guaranteeing the cold chain, by the hospital pharmacy staff. Storage takes place inside an ultra freezer at -80 degrees. From the hubs, the pharmacies prepared all the packages which were immediately distributed to the peripheral centers. Today we start with health workers and residents in the RSA - adds Lopalco - both health workers and the elderly residing in residential structures are part of this first round of vaccination. They are the ones on the front lines and the ones who are most fragile and susceptible to serious illness. In the context of health workers, the regional control room has also established 4 groups of priorities, in relation to the risks of individual exposure.
