Public sector pay rises
Public sector pay rises; ENGLAND LondonGIR 2 way Millbank CMS Kenneth Clarke MP (Chancellor of the Exchequer) intvwd SOT - we have already allocated extra money to the health & education sectors, so the money is there to pay for these pay awards - the Prime Minister never set 35% as an immediate target for Gross Domestic Profit, we have a 40% target, and we both agree that once this is reached we will continue to drive it down by ensuring that the increase in spending on the welfare state is slower than the increase in the growth of the economy, which is what we managed this year, so that we have the extra money to spend on the health & education sectors it's a 25% increase in efficiency of the administration of social security, not a 25% cash cut / need to improve the administration of system, to cut costs, to keep public spending under control without damaging the services for three years there has been a lot of media speculation about what ministers did and didn't do, but now we are going to have the actual Scott report, and once we have it I shall comment on it won't say it was carried out 'fairly' uses 'thoroughly' instead, when taxed by Jon Snow, still won't say 'fair' need to have sensible & fair discussion about the facts behind the Scott inquiry hasn't seen the report says he will still be Chancellor once the report is published, and Waldegrave will still be Chief Sec to the Treasury
