Speaker Ryan addresses House after Whip Scalise, others shot

House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin delivers a rare statement in the well of the House of Representatives during a brief session after Majority Whip Steve Scalise and others were shot practicing in Alexandria, Virginia, for an annual charity baseball game. Ryan speaks in the well of the house, thinking members of the Capitol Police for their tremendous gravy during the incident, having spoken with Scalise and the officers that morning, naming those injured, expressing unity in shock and that an attack on one is an attack on all, to applause from members. Ryan says that emotions can clearly get the best and all are imperfect as members do not shed humanity in entering the chamber.
