NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 20: Burmese people and supporters rally in Manhattan’s Times Square on March 20, 2021 to denounce the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état which began on the morning of 1 February 2021. The anti-military demonstrators demand the release of their leaders including 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Democratic party leader Aung San Suu Kyi and ousted president U Win Myint. The military is accused of using lethal forces including live ammunition and shooting at close range. The United Nations (UN) Security Council is asked to intervene by means of sanctions before the situation worsens.
