- It doesn't feel like a stalemate here, parts of Helmand we are facing a determined enemy and progress is slow, endless places around Helmand where there is a real sense of a return to normality, progress, doesn't feel like stalemate to me, if you were to ask the Afghans whether it felt like stalemate then they wouldn't say so either
