After sunset Auroras

Photographing the northern lights are a tidious and often boring task. Often you are getting out long before sunset, just to be ready when the sun sets. At this time of year, the temperature drops when the sun goes down, and they drop well under sub zero levels. And then, spending 5 -8 hours out can be a quite demanding job. But the upside is to see the northern lights dance across the sky like this. The most spectacular colors of the auroras mostly occurs straight after sunset. So it is for this photo. The warm glow from the sunset, among the dark blue sky, makes the colors from the northern lights even more powerful.
