Southport, England: American golfer Arnold Palmer holds his trophy here after winning the British Open Golf Championship by one stroke..the same margin by which he lost it in 1960. Playing in the rain, Palmer took the lead on the third round when he shot a three-under-par 32-337--69. Then playing in sunshine, he held onto the lead by shooting the final 18 in even par 36-36--72. Palmer won with a total of 284, even par for the 72 holes.
