TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY JUSTINE GERARDY Two baboons wait on a the road from Simon's town to the Cape Of Good Hope on April 1, 2010 outside the Cape Point National Park the outskirt of Cape Town, South Africa. More than five million rand (675,000 dollars, 500,000 euros) will have been spent on managing Cape Town metro's protected chacma baboon troops in the year leading up to the city's World Cup semi-final on July 6. With encroaching urbanisation, under-siege Cape Town residents in baboon areas have long battled raids and even the accidental pushing of an elderly man to his death. For the apes, it's simple logic: half a loaf of raided brown bread is nutritionally equal to a full day's foraging, leaving more time for far-favoured socialising and mating.
