Bottle used in first preparation of viscose rayon, 1892.

UNITED KINGDOM - NOVEMBER 25: The first specimens of viscose rayon (artificial silk) were prepared in this glass stoppered bottle in 1892. Viscose rayon is a regenerated cellulose and due to the obtained solution being yellow and rather viscous it was known as 'Viscose'. It was produced by Englishmen Charles F Cross and Edward J Bevan and patented by Cross, Bevan and Clayton Beadle in 1892 with the British patents taken over by Courtaulds in 1904.
