Asian's to join Coronation Street
The first Asian family to move into TV's Coronation Street will be the Desai family, taking over Fred Elliott's corner shop in the soap opera. Actor Saeed Jaffrey (pictured) will play the head of the family, Ravi. 12/8/99: Jaffrey to be written out of the show. * The other members of the Desai family to feature in Coronation Street will be: daughter Nita (played by Rebecca Sarker), and his son Vikram (played by Chris Bisson). 12/8/99: Shopkeeper Ravi Desai is to be written out of Coronation Street.
