The contents of the axilla are the axillary vein and its branches; the axillary artery and it branches; the axillary or brachial plexus of nerves, and most of its branches; the lateral cutaneous branches of the intercostal nerves, that of the second being known as the intercosto-humeral; the posterior or long thoracic nerve; three chains of axillary lymphatic glands, and a large quantity od areolar tissue and fat, 1899.
