Amazonian Rainforest

PARA STATE, BRAZIL - NOVEMBER 2003: The Amazonian rainforest, the world's largest, is under siege from illegal loggers who export its hard woods to the US, Italy, France, UK, China and Japan. In the last few years 640,000 sq km has been destroyed - an area the size of Germany and Poland combined. After the loggers have harvested the trees, huge areas are burnt by cattle ranchers and soya producers who move onto the deforested land.
