CHUMPON GATE, NAKHON RATCHASIMA, THAILAND - 2005/02/07: Thai people pray to Thao Suranari a local woman also known as Yaa Mo who led battle against Lao invaders in the early 19th century. The wife of the city's deputy governor, she was given the honorific Thao, meaning Lady, by King Rama III. Her statue was placed next to the Chumpon Gate of the old city wall, and a festival is held in her honor at the end of March every year. (Photo by Craig Ferguson/LightRocket via Getty Images)
