Queen Mother Ingrid, who died 07 November 2000 at the age of 90, was one of Denmark most beloved royals who influenced four generations of Danes and helped make the royal family one of the most popular in the world. Born 28 March 1910 in Stockholm, Ingrid Victoria Sofia Louise Margareta was the daughter of the King of Sweden, Gustaf VI Adolf, and his English-born queen, Margareta of Connaught, the granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Ingrid married Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik IX 26 May 1935 in Stockholm at the age of 25. She became queen in 1947 when her husband acceded to the throne.
