Los Angeles Population Growth Continues At Torrid Pace

The high cost of housing in the Los Angeles area has many Angelinos opting for lower priced new homes in the counties to the east and commuting long distances on often-jammed freeways to get their jobs in L.A. Angelinos reportedly have the nation's longest cummutes and worst traffic. A Census Bureau survey released May 19 reports that about 782 people moved to the Los Angeles-Long Beach metropolitan area, already the nation's most populated at nearly 9.5 million, each day in 2001.
