To Improve Economic Development Indias Government Introduced Major Changes In The Existing Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act Which By Some Is Seen As A Major Drawback For Landowners And Farmers Rights, Endangering Their Livelihood.
DHENGA VILLAGE, JHARKHAND MARCH 27: Mr. Dhaneswar Prasad a farmer and paramedic, 37 years, and his wife Mrs. Savita Devi, 33 years, point out the end of their fertile 10 acre plot out of which 4 acres are supposed to be acquired by the Indian company National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) which started developing this site for persons displaced due to acquisition of land on March 27, 2015 in Dhenga Village, Jharkhand. The family has rejected to sell any of their plots which they had been asked for by NTPC. To improve economic development Indias government recently decided to introduce an ordinance to make major changes in the existing Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013 which aims to ease the acquisition of land by industry bodies and government which at the same time will also adversely affect land owners and farmers.
