Mario Gambacorta rides the Coal Seam Trail in the Marshall Mesa area on Thursday morning. The city of Boulder's open space department is going through the process of deciding how to manage the "West Trails Study Area" over the next 10 years. The most contentious part of that process has been figuring out what to do with mountain bikers, who would like to see some trail that would allow mountain bikers to ride from Chautauqua to Eldorado Springs. If such a trail were created, bikers could hook up with the trails at Marshall Mesa -- where mountain bikes are now allowed -- from downtown Boulder.(Photo by Marty Caivano/Digital First Media/Boulder Daily Camera via Getty Images)
