United Nations Delegates in a Meeting
(Original Caption) Malik backs Red China's action. New York, New York: Soviet delegate Jakob Malik in the Steering Committee is shown as he backed Red China's claim that the 11 U.S. imprisoned airmen were espionage agents. Only a few moments before U.S. delegate Henry Cabot Lodge (left) angrily denounced Red China's action as a glaring violation of the Korean armistice. Britain's Anthony Nutting (center) made the recommendation, which was adopted, for a special General Assembly meeting Wednesday to discuss the question.
