Springboks Participate In A Sky TV Shoot For Lions Tour

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA - DATE UNSPECIFIED: Leading Springboks rugby players take part in a film shoot on Table Mountain for Sky TV, to promote the forthcoming British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa, during March, 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa. The shoot, to produce an opening sequence for Sky's TV broadcasts of Lions tour matches and Tests in June and July, was filmed on over two days on March 10 and 12, 2009, with the following South Africa national team players taking part: Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, Pierre Spies, Danie Rossouw, Fourie du Preez, Juan Smith, Jean de Villiers, Schalk Burger, Ricky Januarie and Conrad Jantjes. The theme for the opening sequence was of the Springbok players standing, hands on heart, on the famous South African landmark ready to meet the challenge of the Lions. Computer generated images will be created of a large lion rising out of the ocean and symbolically challenging the waiting Springboks. Similar opening sequences were produced for previous Lions tours to Australia in 2001, where the shoot took place at Ayers Rock, and in New Zealand in 2005, where the location was the snow-capped mountains near Queenstown.
