Clean Up Underway After Oil Spill In Manilla Bay

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - AUGUST 10: Faint traces of diesel fuel lie in waters following an oil spill incident that affected five coastal towns on August 10, 2013 in Cavite province south of Manila, Philippines. Philippine coast guard and fisheries authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the 50,000 liters of diesel fuel oil that contaminated waters known to be fishing grounds of small fisherfolk. Authorities are looking into two possible sources from a submerged diesel fuel pipe of petroleum company Petron to a large oil tanker anchored off Cavite de Bay. A ban on fishing activities on 300 square kilometers of coastline has been implemented affecting the livelihood of around three thousand families dependent on subsistence fishing for a living.
