Chris Martin from the band Coldplay performing on stage at the V2000 music festival in Chelmsford, in Essex. 18/8/01: Thousands of rock and pop fans were heading to one of the summer's biggest music festivals as they descended on the split-site event V2001. * Acts such as rock outfit Red Hot Chili Peppers, Texas, Coldplay and The Charlatans are headlining the weekend-long shows in Staffordshire and Essex. But for pop fans there are also performances by Kylie Minogue and Atomic Kitten at the Virgin-organised event which is now in its sixth year. Organisers were warning fans that no tickets were available at the gates for the show at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, but there were still some for sale at the Weston Park event.
