Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) nurses celebrate after the last batch of SARS patients was discharged from the Xiaotangshan SARS hospital in the rural outskirts of Beijing, 20 June 2003. The hospital, which was erected in barely a week on Beijing's outskirts at the height of the SARS epidemic showing how China is able to mobilise its masses in times of crisis with 7,000 labourers toiling around the clock to build the hospital to hold up to 1,000 patients, 20 June discharged its last 18 patients.
