Children From Remote Chinese Village Climb Unsecured Vine Ladders On A Vertical Cliff

ZHAOJUE, CHINA - MAY 14: A boy of Atule'er Village takes a rest during climbing the a cliff on his way home in Zhaojue county in southwest China's Sichuan province on May 14, 2016 in Zhaojue, China. There are 17 vine ladders on the 800-meter-up way home, but the most dangerous part is a path on the cliff without vine ladder. The oral history of the village said the ancestors pick this isolated and dangerous location to avoid wars. There was a cable transportation service taking them to the valley, but the villagers can't afford the electricity bills and the cable got dismantled later. There were several people fell off to death in recent years. Children at the boarding school need to go home every two weeks, and each time at least three adults will accompany them to minimize the risk on the way.
