Skull Map at Tuol Sleng Museum
Bones and skulls of civilians killed by the Khmer Rouge form Cambodia's infamous 'skull map' at Tuol Sleng museum, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 8th May 1983. In 1976, the Khmer Rouge renamed the Tuol Svay Pray High School as S-21 and turned it into a torture, interrogation and execution centre. Of the 14,000 people known to have entered, only seven survived. In March 2002, the 'skull map' was removed from public display after two decades of display. (Photo by Alex Bowie/Getty Images)mages)
