Belgian Greg Van Avermaet (C) is cheered by fans upon his arrival for a farewell event 'Goodbye Greg' for cyclist Van Avermaet, in Dendermonde, on October 15, 2023. After seventeen professional seasons with 42 victories, including Paris-Roubaix and the 2016 Olympic road race in Rio, Van Avermaet is officially hanging up his bike. To say goodbye in an appropriate manner, he organizes a cycling and football festival in his home town of Dendermonde.
